Transformation of Sentences: Simple ⇄ Compound ⇄ Complex

Transformation me sentence ka meaning same rakhte hue uska structure badalna hota hai. Pakke patterns yaad ho to ye full-marks topic hai.

1. Simple ⇄ Compound ⇄ Complex

  • Simple (one clause): Being ill, he stayed home.
  • Complex (main + subordinate): As he was ill, he stayed home.
  • Compound (two main clauses): He was ill, so he stayed home.

2. Degrees of comparison

Positive ⇄ Comparative ⇄ Superlative, meaning constant: No other boy is as tall as Ram = Ram is taller than any other boy = Ram is the tallest boy.

📝 Example"He is too weak to walk." (transform with "so…that") → He is so weak that he cannot walk.

3. Common conversions

Affirmative ⇄ Negative (Everyone praised himThere was no one who did not praise him); Interrogative ⇄ Assertive; Active ⇄ Passive; Exclamatory ⇄ Assertive.

⚠️ Common Mistakes
  • "too…to" → "so…that not" (negative aata hai).
  • Degree change me article/"any other" dhyaan se: any other (comparative), all the other (superlative).
  • Meaning kabhi mat badlo — sirf structure.
⚡ Quick RevisionSimple=1 clause, Complex=main+subordinate, Compound=2 main+conjunction. too…to = so…that not. Positive↔comparative↔superlative me "any other / as…as".
